Newest Board Member European-based Ericsson Joins Leading Technology Companies from North America And Asia to Help Accelerate Forum Activities

Wakefield, MA – December 16, 2020 – The Innovative Optical and Wireless Network Global Forum (IOWN GF) announced today the appointment of Per Beming, vice president, head of Standards & Industry Initiatives, Ericsson to its Board of Directors. This appointment increases IOWN GF’s board membership to seven, representing the growth in membership of the Forum to over 30 member companies.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Beming to our Board of Directors. He brings extensive leadership experience in standardization, which is vital to our future operations and strategy,” said Katsuhiko Kawazoe, Ph.D., president and chairperson of the board, IOWN GF, Inc. “He is also the first European-based member of the Board. The IOWN GF, as the name implies, is now a global organization with companies from Asia, North America and Europe. With his appointment, we expect to see increased participation from Europe.”

IOWN Global Forum has the potential to reshape how the industry thinks about the future of communication networks and their pervasive integration in society as a whole.” said Mr.Beming.

Mr. Beming is currently responsible for all standardization and industry initiatives, including open source, for the Ericsson Group. In previous roles he was responsible for Radio’s 5G program targeting 5G RAN products and demos, in addition to driving the architecture at Business Area Networks.

He has been Director of RBS Systems at Development Unit Radio, Business Unit Networks, and has also held a role of Expert in Radio Access Architecture at Ericsson Research, as well as serving as the Head of Ericsson’s delegation to 3GPP RAN for WCDMA, HSPA and LTE standardization.

Mr. Beming joined Ericsson Research in 1994 and holds an M.Sc. in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from Linköping University.
