IOWN Global Forum wins MMRI Award for the Best Next Generation Social Infrastructure
MM Research Institute, Ltd. (MMRI), one of the top information and communications technology (ICT) market research and consulting firms in Japan, announced the 18th MMRI Awards recently. The IOWN Global Forum received “The Best Next Generation Social Infrastructure” award in the smart solutions category which is presented to outstanding technologies and services that will help create the next-generation smart society.
The MMRI Award program was established in 2004 to recognize and commend enterprises which proactively take the initiative in new product and service development to create new markets by leveraging ICT.
The IOWN Global Forum was founded in January 2020 by NTT, Intel, and Sony. Leading global companies and academic institutes are participating in the forum, and the total membership has increased to 64 (as of July 2021). The IOWN Global Forum aims to provide advanced capabilities of ultra-high transmission capacity and larger-scale computing resources by cutting-edge photonics-based technologies. This new initiative is highly regarded as a promising next-generation social infrastructure.
